Prim. Prof. Haris Vranić, MD, PhD

Professor  Vranić graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sarajevo in 1991, where he also completed postgraduate studies and successfully defended both his master’s and doctoral theses, earning the title of Doctor of Medical Sciences.

He began his professional career in 1997 at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (CCUS), where he worked until 2020. He then joined the General Hospital "Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakaš". He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST).

He completed advanced training in carotid surgery in Trollhättan, Linköping, and Basel; aortic surgery at the University Clinic in Ulm; and endovascular surgery at the Ludwigsburg Clinic in 2012–2013, where he obtained certification as an endovascular surgeon. He further trained in aortic surgery in Lisbon in 2015.

In daily clinical practice, he performs diagnostic and surgical procedures across the full spectrum of open vascular surgery, including abdominal aortic surgery, peripheral artery procedures, carotid artery surgery, creation of arteriovenous fistulas for hemodialysis, treatment of varicose veins, diabetic foot complications, corrective surgery for terminal limb ischemia, and management of chronic wounds.

Since 2011, he has been a pioneer in endovascular procedures involving the aorta, particularly in acute thoracic aortic dissections, with over 40 procedures performed to date.

He is the author of more than 30 scientific articles published in indexed journals, as well as several clinical guides, monographs, and textbooks.

He is fluent in English and German.
